As part of a joint 3-year WHO/European Commission project a good practice appraisal tool was developed to assess good practice elements of design, monitoring, evaluation and implementation of preventive programmes, projects, initiatives and interventions that aim to counteract obesity and improve nutrition and physical activity. It is structured around a set of 17 key attributes identified as essential for successful implementation of a population-wide approach to the promotion of physical activity across the life course.
